Dear members and fellow golfers,
As the festive season is upon us and as I end my first season as Captain, I wanted to send seasons greetings to all of you and also take this opportunity to offer my thanks to everyone who has assisted both myself and the club over the past year.
I would like to thank all of the staff at our club for all of their hard work in keeping the club functioning smoothly, and not least Fraser and Fiona in the office. They do a power of work to keep the club running smoothly with their tireless effort and ensure that all members, and visitors are treated professionally. Scott and his team of greens staff for keeping the course in great condition and presenting it so well despite some very difficult conditions throughout the season.
Our Club Pro Stephen and his team in the shop for providing a quality service and also for the coaching Stephen has provided this year to younger members of the local community, these will hopefully be our members of the future.
I would like to thank all of the members who have assisted us in a variety of ways over the season, using their professional skills in so many ways, your help is invaluable.
I would also like to thank Bistro 19 for creating such a lively atmosphere within the clubhouse and enhancing the reputation of Harburn Golf Club as a place to visit. The quality of their food is praised by all visitors to the club and ensure many return visitors.
Especially I would like to thank Jim Stewart (vice captain) Jim McGrane (past captain) and Mike Harkness (treasurer) for all their advice and assistance as fellow trustees; also all of our other council members for giving up their time to attend meetings and take on the various tasks required to ensure the club runs as smoothly as possible.
Overall, despite the poor summer, we’ve enjoyed a good year of golf and our Ladies team have had some fabulous successes both as a team and individually. Likewise our gents teams and individually, well done to Sid Curran for finally getting his name on our champions board, like Sergio, Sid proved persistence does pay off.
Last and not least I would like to thank you all for your support of the club over the past 12 months and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
