Congratulations to Stuart Crookston and Peter Baird on winning yesterday’s Captain’s Trophy, well done both.

In a changed format the event was played as a two player Texas Scramble with 51 teams competing for the Trophy.

Stuart and Peter carded a gross 66 which included 5 birdies and with a handicap of 4.4 gave them a net score of 61.6.

Hot on their heels in second place it was the pairing of Mark McManus and Jim Murphy who shot a gross 67 with a handicap of 5.2 giving them 61.8. They carded three birdies between them and Mark had an eagle two at the twelfth.

In third place it was Tom Woods and Douglas Saunders with a gross 66 less a handicap of 3.6 which gave them a score of 62.4, which included four birdies.

Stuart and Peter won £25.50 each in the sweep, Mark and Jim £15.30 each and Tom and Douglas £10.40 each.

A tricky front right pin position at the 15th made life difficult for the field and only one pairing managed to claim a birdie. Well done to Mark Fowler for his birdie and I’m sure his partner John “Jinky” Johnston will be delighted to share the £80 prize pot with him!

Well done to everyone who took part in the event, much appreciated, the feedback from the format was very positive and congratulations to all the winners.

In total 113 birdies and 1 eagle were scored on the day raising a fabulous total of £575 for the SAMH charity.
