Malcolm McGowan wins the Labinjoh Medal Final

Playing conditions were very difficult thanks to a cold wind but it helped produce a very close finish with 9 players being separated by just 2 shots and it was Malcolm McGowan that took top spot with a fine 70 (85-15).  Malcolm held off Stuart Wright, who also finished on 70 (83-13), winning on countback.  3 players finished on 71 with 4 players on 72.

Malcolm was out in a net 35 with net birdies at 4 and 9.  Further net birdies at 11, 15 and 16 had him well in control.  A double bogey at 17 almost proved costly but he was back in 35, which was 1 better than Stuart who started well with net birdies at 1 and 4.  Another at 7 saw him out in 34.  Despite a net birdie at 18, Stuart was home in 36 shots to fall just short.  Paul Adamson took 3rd place with a 71 (75-4).  His scratch 75 contained 15 pars.  After a double bogey at 6 Paul was out in 39 but a fine 36 on the back 9 saw him finish just ahead of David Bryans and William Heeps.  Paul was back in net 34 with David and William both home in 36 shots.

There were three players with 2’s at the 15th.  Terry McCormack, Alan Lee and Gordon Birrell.

Congratulations to all winners.
