Evening All

What a day!

This morning, Meg played Margaret Parr (Merchants) in the semi final of the Midlothian County B Championship.  Meg went 2 down after 2, but got her game back on track and was all square after 9.  Meg then lost 10 & 12 to go 2 down but clawed it back to be all square after 15.  Meg played a superb second shot into the green at 16 to par and win the hole.  A wayward shot by Margaret at 17 allowed Meg to knock her putt close to win the hole and the match.  Phew!

So onto the afternoon’s final game playing Susan Randall (Turnhouse).  Similar to the semi, Meg went 2 down to Susan’s two pars at the first and second but once again Meg get’s back to all square after 8. A tricky crosshill putt for Meg on the 9th leaves her one down at the turn but then wins 10 and 11 to go 1 up.  The game see saws between the two players and they leave the 15th all square.  A tentative chip at 16 from Meg left the door open for Susan who holed her par putt and to go one up.  Both players were on the long par 3 17th with similar 10-12 foot putts to make.  Meg putted down, her putt shaving the hole.  Susan kept her cool and slotted her putt in to win the hole and the match.

It was a fantastic effort from Meg and she thoroughly deserves a glass of wine (or two) this evening.  Well done Meg, you did yourself and Harburn proud!
