Mark Littlejohn leads qualifiers
In very tricky conditions Mark Littlejohn is in pole position after the first two rounds with scores of 73 and 74 for a total of 147. Mark leads Nick Henderson by 2 shots and a further 2 shots back is Stuart Loch and Calum Ross.
Mark shared the lead after the first round following his very steady 73 which included 16 pars and 2 bogeys. His score was matched by Stuart Loch. A shot further back was Nick Henderson and Keith Wilson. Not far behind on 75 were Paul Adamson and Neil Owen.
The leaders may not have had many birdies in the first roundbut this changed in round 2 with the top 2 players sharing 8 birdies. Best score of the second round went to defending champion Ross Boyle with a 73 which included birdies at 15, 16 and 17. Unfortunately Ross couldn’t keep the birdie run going and finished with a bogey. His 73 was still good enough to finish a shot ahead of Calum Ross, Mark Littlejohn and Steven Johnston. Calum’s round contained 5 birdies at 1,8, 10, 12 and 18. His round could have been so much better but for a triple bogey at 11.
Also in with a 74 was first round leader Mark Littlejohn and his 147 was good enough to give him a 2 shot lead after the first two rounds. Not far behind on 149 is last year’s runner up Nick Henderson. Nick’s rounds of 74 and 75 helped him finish 2 shots ahead of Stuart Loch (73+78) and Calum Ross(77+74). A further shot behind is Ross Boyle, his second round 73 was 6 shots better than his first round.
There are 8 shots separating the top 9 players so it’s still all to play for over the last 2 rounds next weekend. Good luck to all 15 qualifiers.
