Duff House Royal Mixed Seniors
Weather wise it certainly wasn’t a glorious week of sunshine that greeted the 160 players at Duff House Royal’s Mixed Seniors Week this year. However, the damp, drizzly conditions didn’t stop Harburn doing exceptionally well again, with a few members picking up prizes.
Eileen Montgomery qualified for the top 8 High Handicap knockout stage and won her quarterfinal match but was unfortunately beaten on the 18th in the semi final.
Dorothy Wilson and Sheila McEwan both qualified for the top 8 Low Handicap section but luck was not on their side as they were drawn to play against each other in the quarterfinals! It was a close match which came down to the 18th and Sheila holing out for a narrow win. Sheila was then beaten on the 18th in the semi final.
Narrowly missing out on qualifying for the Low Handicap knockout stage, Aileen Kennedy qualified for the Super Seniors section and went on to win the final comfortably.
Joe Kennedy and Tony Lang qualified for the Gents Super Senior knockout stage but both lost out on reaching the final.
In the 4BBB consolation competition on the Wednesday, Hazel Deerness’s team of Ian Gatt (DHR), Stuart Baker (New Club St Andrews) and George Moir (DHR) won by 4 strokes.
Thursday was the consolation Greensomes. Dorothy Wilson & Deirdre Taylor were determined to make up for any disappointments they had earlier in the week. Their determination paid off and saw the Harburn duo take the runners up prize.
Well done to all!
