Harburn Gents Open 2024
Congratulations to Glencorse’s David Greig on winning the Bobby Gibson Gents Harburn Open trophy with a brilliant 5 under par, nett 66 (70-4) two shots clear of Harburn pair James Thomson (82-14) and Keith Wilson (68-0). Keith took first scratch prize so third goes to Colin Halcrow from Largs who finished a further shot back on 69 (73-4). Jack Yule from Openplay took 4th place with a 70 (82-12) followed byHarburn’s Brian Rooney (82-11) and Lyndsay Steele (78-7)finishing 5th and 6th respectively.
Winner David Greig played very solid both halves with 3 birdies and 4 bogeys in his round but kept his best until the final 7 holes shooting 2 under par thanks to birdies at 12 and 14. Playing off 14 James Thomson made his score on the back nine with 6 pars to be home in a nett 32.
It was tight for 5th and 6th with Brian Rooney edging Lyndsay Steele on a countback of 35,22,12 against 35,22,13 so Brian takes 5th thanks to his last 3 holes.

Congratulations to Harburn’s Keith Wilson who was the winner of the Scratch prize with a brilliant three under par 68.
Keith’s round included 5 birdies at 1, 4, 7, 10 and 17 which helped him win by 2 shots from Graeme Stevenson from Uphall who shot a fine 70 in a round containing 3 birdies. Fraser Campbell from Ratho Park was a further shot behind on 71. Fraser had 4 birdies in his round but his double bogey at 16 proved costly.
In 4th was Harburn’s Ross Boyle who finished
finished a shot ahead of Brad Gallagher from East Kilbride and Nick Henderson from Harburn. Brad took 5th place on countback. Although both had back 9’s of 37, Brad’s last 6 of 23 pipped Nick’s 24.

There was good representation from all around Scotland and further afield but a special mention goes to the returning group from Stocksfield GC in Northumberland and the 9 players from Dalziel Park. However it’s a thank you to all 172 players for supporting our Open today, we hope you enjoyed the course and hope to see you again next year.
