Kirk Rosebowl Medal – Wednesday 8th May 

Andrew Leitch takes leading qualifier in latest Kirk Rosebowl with a nett 66 on a return to strokeplay format for the latest round.

A field of 116 players competing to book their qualifying place.

In the Division One competition Colin Welsh took the honours with a nett 70 beating Stephen William Forrest by one shot. Stephen claiming second spot on the countback from Jim Davidson.

Colin was out in a nett 35 shots before returning in the same number. Stephen was out in a nett 37 and returned in 34 helped along with birdies at holes 6 & 18

Colin won £16.25 for first place in the sweep and Stephenpicked up £8.75.

In Division 2, Andrew Leitch took top spot and leading qualifier with a nett 66 giving him a five-shot advantage over second placed Craig Bodel on nett 71. Criag claiming second spot on the countback from Steven Stanton and Stephen Burns.

Andrew going out in nett 33 before returning in the same number including birdies at 3 & 9.

Craig out in nett 37 before returning in 34 and sealed second spot with a birdie at hole 18.

Andrew won £29.90 for first place in the sweep and Craigpicked up £16.10.

In Division 3, Ewan Montgomery secured a two-shotadvantage over Jim Sloggett in second. Jim Lawson being pipped by Mr Sloggett on the countback.

Ewan going out in nett 38 before returning in a fine nett 31.

Jim out in nett 38 before returning in 33 and sealed second spot and 2’s sweep money with a birdie at hole 15.

Ewan won £29.25 for first place in the sweep and Jim Sloggett picked up £15.75.

Six players* birdied the 15th hole, William Marr, Bob Lannen, Jim Sloggett, Ross Adamson, Greg Dymock and Graham Purves each collecting £14.80 in the “Two’s” sweep.

*A mention for young Peter Cowley who also managed to secure a birdie 2 at the 15th hole but is exempt from the 2’s sweep.
