David James top Qualifier in Scott Medal

The Scott Medal was played in glorious sunshine and very little wind so it was maybe a little surprising that only 10 players broke par out of a total of 108 who took part. Of those it was David James who took top spot with a 67, 2 shots ahead of a bunch of players on 69.

Division 1

Karl Conway led the way in division 1 with a 69 (72-3) finishing 1 stroke ahead of Michael Cassaly (76-6). Karl had 3 birdies in his round but kept the best until last with a gross 2 under par for the last 6 holes that includes 2’s at both the 13th and 15th. Michael was very steady after going out in 1 over he had 8 nett pars and a nett birdie in a back 9 of 35. Karl wins £14.30 sweep with Michael picking up £7.70.

Division 2

Lead qualifier David James finished 2 strokes ahead of Alan Lambert Thomson in division 2. David’s 67 (78-11) included gross birdies on 14 and 15 to be back in 32. Great scoring David. It was very tight for second place but Alan (78-9) just edged it from Ian Wightman (80-11) thanks to his last 3 holes which he covered in 11 strokes compared to Ian’s 12. Both Alan and Ian were 3 under nett after 4 holes but it was Alan’s gross birdie at 17 that helped him clinch second place. David wins £34.45 for first place with Alan winning £18.55.

John Watt won division 3 by 4 shots. John’s 69 (97-28) included 2 nett eagles helping him comfortably take first place from Brian Gray who shot 73 (94-21).
