Scott Medal – 24 May 2025
Scott Medal- Harry and Gary shoot 65’s
The weather wasn’t as nice as it has been over the last few weeks but that didn’t affect the scores with some fantastic shooting from the 83 players who took part in the latest Scott Medal. Leading qualifiers were Gary Sabiston and Harry Sneddon both shooting superb 65’s with John Hogg just behind on 66. A low score was needed to qualify with 10 players scoring 69 or better.
Division 1
Alex Bathgate continued his recent good form with a great 68 (74-6) taking top spot in division 1. He played very steady with 1 birdie (11th) and 4 bogeys in his 74, but he’ll be annoyed with his bogey at the last. One shot behind on 69 was Chris Rooney (73-4). Out in 2 over par, Chris was back in level helped by birdies at the 4th and the 11th. Well played guys. Alex wins £7.15 sweep money and Chris picks up £3.85.
Division 2
Some great scoring in division 2 with the top 3 players playing well recently. Harry Sneddon taking first place by a shot with his 65 (80-15). Harry was one over net after 8 holes then covered the next 10 holes in 7 under helped by a net eagle at the 12th. In second spot was John Hogg on 66 (81-15). John had equal halves of 33 which included 6 net birdies and a net eagle. Bob Stokes followed up his good scoring in the Linlithgowshire Seniors on Thursday with another great score finishing in third on 67 (80-13). Harry wins £27.30 for first place with John winning £14.70.
Division 3
Gary Sabiston took first place in division 3 his 65 (81-16) four shots ahead of Stuart Graham in second. Gary romped home in 29 which included a net eagle and 5 birdies in 6 holes from the 11th to the 16th, the only spoiler being a bogey on 18. Great shooting nonetheless. Stuart’s 69 looks dull in comparison but it was anything but. Out in 6 over net 42, Stuart was back in an amazing 27 thanks to 6 net birdies and a net eagle (14th). A real tale of two halves!
Gary wins £19.50 with Stuart picking up £10.50 for second place.
Special mention to Jimmy Thomson for his eagle at the 4th.
2’s sweep
A great week for Bob Stokes got even better as he was the only player with a birdie on the 15th. Bob’s 2 winning him £64.80.
