Karl Conway and Paul Adamson top qualifying

 

In terrible wet conditions it was well done to Karl Conway for leading the Seniors qualifying and Paul Adamson taking top spot in the Under 30’s.

 

Seniors

 

Defending champion Karl Conway led the way in qualifying with a fine 74 in some dreadful conditions.  Karl was level par after 13 holes with one birdie and one bogey to add to 11 pars.  Although he had 3 bogeys in the last 5 holes it was still good enough to finish a shot ahead of Nick Henderson and Stuart Tidy.  Both players had mixed rounds with 5 birdies between them.  Nick takes second place thanks to his one over par last 6 holes to Stuart’s 2 over.

 

Completing qualification are the 5 players finishing on 79.  Pick of these is Michael Cassaly who was level par at the turn and looking good.  Still only 2 over after 12, a terrible run of 7 dropped shots in 4 holes saw him outside of qualifying before a brave birdie at 18 saw him sneak back in in 8th place.

Under 30’s

Due to lack of support in previous years it was decided a change was needed and the Youths championship has been replaced by the Under 30’s championship.  Top qualifier is Paul Adamson with a brilliant 75.  Out in 3 over par, a couple of birdies at 10 and 13 took him back to 1 over.  Despite a run of 3 bogeys at 15, 16 and 17, Paul finished well ahead Graeme Smith in second place.  There are 6 qualifiers with the top 2 going through to the semi final on Tuesday.  The quarter final draw is:

The first tee time on Monday is 5.32pm.

 

Unfortunately the weather forecast is not looking too good for tomorrow night.  Hopefully the forecasters get it wrong again but players should turn up unless otherwise informed.
