Paul Adamson wins the Storry Cup 2025
After a superb 67 on Saturday, Paul Adamson kept his nerve to win the Storry Cup with a second round 69 for a 136 total. Paul finished two shots ahead of Stuart Tidy. Stuart matched Paul’s 67 on day one but fell just short on Sunday despite a great effort finishing with a 71 for a total of 138. In third place was Alex Bathgate. After a 72 on Saturday Alex needed something special and almost obliged equalling the best score of the day with a 67.
The scores over the weekend matched the great weather and course conditions with several players shooting in the 60’s. On day one where 121 players teed off, we were tied at the top with 4 players shooting 67, Graham Prentice (83-16), Harry Sneddon (81-14), Paul Adamson (73-6) and Stuart Tidy (72-5). These 4 were a shot ahead of Alistair Henderson with a group of 5 players within 4 shots.
On day two with 122 players taking part, the scoring was slightly better with 13 players breaking par. The pick of these being Alex Bathgate (74-7), Paul Wright (79-12) and Stewart Linford (79-12) who matched the previous day’s best rounds of 67.
After his 67 on day one Paul Adamson got off to a good start on day two and was 4 under par net by the time he reached the 8th tee. A bogey on 8 saw him out in 33. He played steady until the 15th where he double bogeyed but bounced back with a net birdie at 16 coming home in 36. Well Done Paul.
In contrast to Paul’s good start on Sunday, Stuart struggled early on with a double bogey at the 1st setting the tone for the first 9 going out in 39. A great back 9 of 32 with the only blemish coming with a bogey at 17.
Alex needed a fast start on Sunday but couldn’t get it going until the 7th where he had a net eagle to be out in 34. Another net eagle at 16 came just too late but a great score of 67 was good enough to take third place.
Special mentions go to Ross Boyle and Kyle Fleming. Ross had a superb eagle on the 4th on Sunday but Kyle managed to go one better with an albatross 2 on the same hole. Not sure if that’s been done before. Amazing, some second shot Kyle.
