The opening round of the Kirk Rosebowl Medal qualifiers took place in difficult scoring conditions today with a field of 69 players competing to book their place in the Final on August 16th.
In the Division One competition Matthew Smith took the honours with a gross 77 which gave a net 70, two shots clear of Greg Dymock and Bill McKenna who both scored net 72 with Greg taking second place on the count back. Matthew helped along with birdies at 4, 8, 12, 14 & 17.

Matthew was out in 41 but came home with a very strong 36 helped along with birdies at 4, 8, 12, 14 & 17.
Greg was out in 41 and came back in an impressive 35 with birdies at 11 & 16.
Matthew won £7.80 for first place in the sweep and Greg picked up £4.20.
Well done guys.
In Division 2, Stephen Burns took top spot and leading qualifier with a fine four under score of 67 beating Ged Sharkey who was second, two shots back on 69.
Stephen went out in net 37 and an excellent back nine giving him a net 30 including birdies at 12 & 14.
Ged with a very tasty net 33 on the way out and returning with a net 36.
Stephen won £21.45 for first place in the sweep and Ged picked up £11.55.
In Division 3, Duncan MacAulay took top spot with a score of 71 beating Alexander Thomson who was second, one shot back on 72.
Duncan went out in net 38 and a tidy back nine giving him a net 33 his score including a birdie at 8.
Alexander with net 37 on the way out and returning with a net 35.
Duncan won £15.60 for first place in the sweep and Alexander picked up £8.40.
Only one player birdied the 15th hole, Karl Conway collecting £55.20 in the “Two’s” sweep. Well done as well as carding another birdie two at the 13th!
